Sandhill Cranes

More Sandhill Crane pictures from around my neighborhood. I've noticed there seems to be more cranes than there have been within the past four years. This is good news because they are often found hanging out along the sides of roads where cars drive too dangerously fast past them. They move very...S L O W L Y :) And they stop traffic as they make their way across the street. I'm not exactly sure why I love them so much...I just do!

Lovely birds Sarah, and your photos show their beauty.
It must be wonderful to see them in your neighbourhood.

Hi Cheryl :) thank you, and yes, I love the fact that they are free to roam. Although I have to be extra careful when backing out of the driveway!

These birds are incredible. Last summer my wife and I saw them on Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, Ontario. They were gathered in a hay field. It was breathtaking.

Hi Paul, oh I can imagine! I was surprised to learn all the places they live. Usually they are in pairs around here, but when I see more than two together it heightens my appreciation :)
